Former Laker Agosta Represents Canada at Sochi Olympics

SOCHI, Russia – Former Mercyhurst Laker Meghan Agosta (Marciano) will compete for a gold medal as a member of Team Canada's national women's hockey team in Sochi, Russia during the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Agosta-Marciano was a member of the Mercyhurst women's hockey program from 2006-09 and 2010-11. The four-time Patty Kazmaier Memorial Top-Three Finalist has competed on the Olympic stage two different times prior to Sochi and has won gold in both. Agosta-Marciano was also named the 2010 MVP in Vancouver.
At the NCAA level, Agosta-Marciano collected 303 points on 157 goals and 146 assists, and also collected 39 game-winning goals, 20 shorthanded goals and 55 power-play goals. All of those figures except for her assist total are still NCAA records. She was a four-time CHA Player of the Year, a four-time All-CHA First Team selection, and a three-time CHA Tournament MVP. At the national level, Agosta-Marciano was a four-time RBK Hockey/ AHCA First Team All-American and was named the 2007 USCHO Rookie of the Year.
Prior to the games in Sochi, Team Canada faced off with Team USA in a six-game series in preparation for the weeks to come. In the series, Agosta-Marciano tallied just one goal against Team USA but has 30 points at the international level heading into the first game in Sochi on February 8 at 8:00 a.m. EST.
The Ruthven, Ontario native is also a member of the Montreal Stars of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) after being selected first overall in the 2011 draft. The forward won the Angela James Bowl during the 2011-12 season after breaking the league's single season scoring record of 80 points on 41 goals and 39 assists. She also contributed to her team winning the 2012 Clarkson cup. She is now only one of five women to win the Clarkson Cup and a gold medal in the Winter Olympics.
