Christine Bestland – Mercyhurst

Senior Christine Bestland ended the 2013 portion of the season strong with 10 points in four December games. In the four games, Bestland was a +10 rating and collected 26 shots on net. Bestland captured two hat tricks in three games to match her career-high for hat tricks in a season. Bestland captured her career 200th point against Penn State on December 7th with an assist in the opening period. She scored a season-high four points in a contest against the Nittany Lions, only to best that the next weekend by scoring five points in a victory over Lindenwood. She also scored two short-handed goals to set a new career-high of three short-handed goals in a season and is now tied for first in the nation in SHG. Bestland has been named CHA Player of the Week four times this season, with one award in the month of December. Overall, Bestland has collected 33 points on 13 goals and 20 assists. She leads the CHA in points, assists, goals, and plus/minus rating (+25) and short-handed goals (3). In the nation, Bestland is fifth in points per game (1.57) and sixth in assists per game (0.95).

Jessica Dodds – Robert Morris
Freshman; London, Ontario
Freshman Jessica Dodds went 2-0-0 during the abbreviated December schedule, stopping 45 shots and allowing just three goals in a sweep of RIT. Dodds stopped 18-of-19 shots in a one-goal win Friday, including all nine she faced in the third period. She turned aside 27 in a 4-2 victory on Saturday, assuring that the Colonials would head into the break with sole possession of first place in the College Hockey America standings. Dodds is 13-0-1 on the season, giving her the best win percentage and third most wins in the nation. She is also just one of two qualified goaltenders still undefeated in Division I. She ranks in the top-10 nationally in GAA (1.49) and shutouts (3), while her .932 save percentage is tied for 11th best. She has already tied Kristen DiCiocco's win total from last season, and is just four shy of DiCiocco's program record for wins in a season.

Jillian Skinner – Mercyhurst
Defenseman; Markham, Ontario
Freshman Jillian Skinner recorded six points, all assists, during a four-game scoring streak in December. The streak, still active, is the longest of her young career. Skinner marked a season-high two assists in back-to-back games against Penn State. She collected eight shots on net with a +8 rating. The defenseman also blocked three shots during the back-to-back sweeps, which extended the Lakers win streak to seven games. Her 11 points (1G, 10A) lead all CHA rookie defenseman in scoring, and are fourth on the list of CHA defenseman overall. Skinner is third in freshman scoring in the CHA. Skinner leads all defenseman with nine points against CHA opponents and is second in conference points by a freshman. For the season, she has attempted 26 shots on net, carries a +5 +/- rating and has 20 blocked shots.
